In November, we focus on the gratitude we feel for all the blessings in our lives. Like many families, we practice a simple custom: we go round the table, each person expressing what they’re grateful for. It’s so simple and so meaningful, and like so many good things, I wonder: why don’t we do this more often?
This year, I was struck by what our youngest, Izzy, age six, shared. Before giving thanks for family and friends and candy, she thanked the Earth. It really moved me. How many of us think to thank this beautiful, infinitely complex and wonderful planet?
Earth gives us everything we need and so much more: air, water, a hospitable temperature, food of every imaginable variety, material for clothing & shelter, means of transportation beyond our ancestors’ wildest dreams.
She gives us music, art, theater, film, dance, including our own ability to participate in, and share these human marvels. Our home fosters kinship with other species--whether cats, dogs, elephants, birds, dolphins, or the baby spider I let outside this morning….
This planet is indeed magnificent, most probably unique, and so worth preserving!
For the Holidays, we’ll be dedicating 18% of every sale to a non-profit I discovered recently, Only One, that devotes itself to protecting oceans and ocean species, planting coral and trees, showing up every day to create tangible, positive impacts upon our climate, for this planet we share.
Use code: GIVEHEMP to also receive 18% off every order through 12/18/23. (Order by 12/15 to receive in time for Christmas)
We’ve been honored to serve as hempbassadors for the hemp plant, knowing it’s a vital part of the solution to all the problems we face. Recently, at a fundraiser for Only One, I met a man at a party I hadn’t seen in a long time, since before the pandemic. He had been a customer at the Santa Monica retail store we closed in 2020. With tears welling up in his eyes, he thanked me for the clothing we brought into the world, how it had changed his life.
“I wear it every day!” he said, “even though it’s holey and my wife wants me to get rid of it… I compromised, and agreed to only wear it under other shirts.”
I smiled, also with gratitude, and 100% understanding his journey with hemp. I’ve heard similar stories so many times, and lived it myself. It’s why I started the company, why I’ve run it through thick and thin, and why I hope to continue hempin' you out.
So if you’re a fan, thank you and Hempy Holidays!!! Please share the gift of hemp clothing with a loved one this holiday season.
As ever, thanks for being vital,
~Let Us Hemp You Out!
